Have you tried older drivers in compatibility mode? If you left the nvidia driver in not DDU it away could you then go in to display adapter properties and then choose the update driverlet me pick and choose your driver?
Probably this has been tried too I suppose. Have you tried asking on Nvidia site to see if there is someone with more experience there that can help? I read in one of the posts here that someone had to do the driver install 9 times before it took.
I would think if your card was working fine before then it probably isn't a hardware failure. A lot of people had messed up video adapters after upgrade. It would be nice for confirmation.
